Job Title: Lead Hand – Bulk Liquid Handling & Food Safety
Job Summary:
The Lead Hand is responsible for performing and assisting with the safe and efficient handling of bulk liquid products, including filling, loading, and unloading tasks, while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and operational protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Handling:
- Fill containers such as 16L jibs, 200L drums, and IBCs (totes) accurately and efficiently.
- Load and unload bulk liquid products from tanker trucks and railcars.
- Monitor product flow and ensure proper sealing, labeling, and documentation.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate forklifts and other handling equipment for moving materials and containers.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Food Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all food safety protocols, including HACCP and GMP standards, during handling and processing.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the work area and equipment to meet food-grade requirements.
- Physical Labor:
- Lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs as part of daily operations.
- Ensure safe lifting techniques and adherence to ergonomic practices.
- General Duties:
- Assist with offloading railcars and ensuring products are stored or transferred correctly.
- Handle basic troubleshooting of filling equipment and escalate issues as needed.
- Complete required documentation for each shift, such as logs and product tracking forms.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift license with hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with filling and bulk liquid handling equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety practices (HACCP, GMP, etc.).
- Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and work in an industrial environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols.
Work Environment:
- Industrial setting with exposure to bulk liquid handling and various temperature conditions.
- Use of PPE and adherence to safety procedures is required.
