Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team in the ICI (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating project costs, from initial conceptual designs to final construction, within the ICI sector. The role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate and timely cost estimates for various types of ICI projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit detailed cost estimates for institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate take-offs and cost breakdowns.
- Develop unit pricing and estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to refine project scopes and ensure estimates reflect project requirements.
- Identify and communicate any potential risks or changes that could impact project costs.
- Source and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the best value for the project.
- Monitor and track project costs throughout the life cycle of the project, making adjustments as needed.
- Prepare and maintain project budgets, schedules, and progress reports.
- Provide support during project negotiations and assist in finalizing contracts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the ICI sector (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and Ontario Building Codes.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Procore, Buildertrend, or similar.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with bid preparation, subcontractor relations, and cost control measures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Estimator Certification (CEC, AACE) or related certification.
- Experience with pre-construction and conceptual estimating.
