The Opportunity: Our Resources subsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. We have developed a wide range of services, including economic studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, commissioning and industrial programming. This division provides a full range of services to industrial and mining projects, from conceptual and feasibility studies to detailed engineering in EPCM, to the closure and dismantling of mine sites. Our experts work together to offer our clients services that meet the highest standards in the industry and innovate to exceed them.

To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a Junior or Intermediate Electrical Designer (Revit, 3D) to join our team located in our offices in Sudbury, Ontario or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan or one of our Greater Toronto offices. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, you’ll be at the heart of innovative project delivery—bringing your expertise in design, drafting, and 3D modeling to the Resources team. From conceptual studies to construction-ready designs, you’ll transform ideas into reality while ensuring technical excellence, cost efficiency, and strong client relationships. This role offers autonomy and impact: you’ll manage your workload, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision, making every project a showcase of your skill and precision. What you can expect to do here

  • Draft and design electrical power distribution systems, fire-detection/alarm systems, industrial control systems, building lighting and associated control systems
  • Produce detailed drawings and specifications (AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Revit)
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Coordinate with various departments and disciplines required for project implementation
  • Conduct Industrial and Commercial site reviews
  • Prepare engineering reports
  • Attend industrial sites and observe applicable safety regulations

What you’ll bring to WSP

  • Minimum College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or University Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Ideally working towards C.Tech or C.E.T. designation
  • Between 2 to 5 years of relevant experience (co-op and internships considered) on electrical design projects in industries such as food and beverage, chemical, steel, cement, oil and gas, mining
  • Recent engineering consulting experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit; 3D expertise
  • Experience with high voltage substation plan and profile drafting; Civil3D is an advantage
  • Ability to interact effectively within a team with clients and teammates
  • Proactive with good time management under tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes and Standards, CSA, ANSI, IEEE, Ontario Building Code, and other applicable codes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $66,700 – $88,400
MB & ON: $60,900 – $83,800
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $60,300 – $80,000
