About the position: We are currently seeking an Application Development Lead to join our Currency Portfolio in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department Reporting to the Assistant Director, CUR (Currency) Business Applications Services you will join a diverse and driven team focused on enhancing the currency systems at the Bank of Canada. You will work in collaboration with the team’s Release Manager and 4-5 scrum teams to ensure effective support for the currency department. Further, you will have the full support of your leader and teammates to enhance your skills, experiment, and further your career through our customizable Learning & Development programs across various domains (Mentorship, Leadership, Architecture, etc.) and relevant certifications.

What you will do: You will lead the application development and automation activities for all currency applications in support of the Currency department. More specifically you will: Lead development, support and maintenance of the technologies and services within the portfolio Provide hands-on application development technical guidance and operational support for the continuous improvement of various currency systems. Provide production operational support and work with operational support groups to determine the root cause behind critical production incidents and process challenges. Lead initiatives to address appropriate work from the support backlog to mitigate recurring incidents in the future.

Participate in all phases of the product/DevOps life cycle to enhance the Currency Applications, adding technical knowledge, creativity, and a seasoned perspective to delivering on CUR objectives. Introduce and champion best in class application design and secure development techniques including frameworks, automation, deployment of code and testing. Guide and provide on-the-job training, coaching and support to more junior colleagues. Drive thought leadership, consistent development processes and coding practices across scrum teams.

This role also requires potential overtime and on-call escalation responsibility (paid). This is a 24/7 rotation requirement lasting one week every 3-4 weeks. What you need to succeed You have strong communication skills with the ability to work with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, and design data solution and data models to meet requirements. You are also a team player, self-starter, and can work in Agile Teams and explore new data technology and trends.

In addition, you have: Proven experience as a Senior Developer and/or Development Lead Experience with SQL for data analysis Experience with integration software (such as MuleSoft) to support a COTS environment. Experience with Microsoft Azure and SharePoint Nice-to-have Understanding of the core business and currency at the Bank of Canada Any relevant certifications/designations Experience with MuleSoft software Your education and experience Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the proficiencies and skills for the role. We are ideally seeking candidates with a relevant degree/diploma and 5 years of relevant experience. Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $99,340 to $124,175 (job grade 18) The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary.
