<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: <br /><p>INTERNAL JOB POSTING:</p><p>Full-time Primary Support Counsellor; Permanent position</p><p><em>The successful candidate(s) will be assigned to one of our residential homes, but may be reassigned to another location within Residential Services</em></p><p><em>Please see reverse side of this posting for Article 12 Job Posting</em></p><p>Primary Location: Murphy</p><p>EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:Full-time Regular (as per Article 14.02 (i)(b) of the Collective Agreement)</p><p>LENGTH OF THE CONTRACT: Permanent</p><p><br><br></p><p>POSTING DATE: October 20th, 2025</p><p>CLOSING DATE: October 29th, 2025, by 4:30 P.M.</p><p>POSITION FILL DATE: On or before January 12th, 2026</p><p><br /></p><p>Under the general supervision of the Site Supervisor/Area Director, the incumbent will primarily provide individually focused community and hub-based participation opportunities for older adults who have <span >developmental/intellectual</span> disabilities and who may also have expressive behaviours or sensory challenges and/or medical (dementia or other) or attendant care needs.</p><p><em>SKILLS, ABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS, ETC. (as per Article 12.02):</em></p><p><br><br></p><p>Duties include, but are not limited to, taking a lead role in the:</p><ul><li>Development and implementation of Individual Support Plans, which promote independence, community immersion, and natural support through personalized goal setting and achievement.</li><li>Developing supports and approaches that take into consideration individual needs as one ages.</li><li>Planning, coordination, and facilitation of day-to-day activities (in the community and in-house) that will ensure people have memorable & meaningful days that are filled with interest, variety, and choice.</li><li>Cold-calls and recruitment of various stakeholders (participants, speakers, volunteers or placements, etc.)</li><li>Creating connections within the community promotes independence, self-esteem, and self-confidence of participants, as well as involvement of family, friends, volunteers, and natural support.</li><li>Providing coaching in varying community and volunteer settings and follow-up/maintenance support</li><li><span >Development/adaptation,</span> coordination, and <span >implementation/facilitation</span> of new and interesting curriculum, sessions, and courses geared to specific, varied audiences.</li><li>Communication and follow-up with family, consultants, medical personnel, support team, etc.</li><li>Meeting the support requirements and personal care needs of older individuals, including those who may demonstrate high medical and/or behavioural needs.</li><li>Thorough and consistent completion, submission, and follow-up of documentation and records.</li><li>Modelling for/provision of guidance for new and existing team members, student placement, and volunteers.</li><li>Advocating for and ensuring the personal rights, dignity, well-being, and protection from harm of participants, and reporting infractions</li><li>Ensuring appropriate action in the event of illness, injury or critical situations</li><li>Being respectful and considerate of others to create a positive work and support environment</li></ul><p></p><p><em>PROFESSIONAL APTITUDES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</em></p><p><br><br></p><ul><li>Demonstrated initiative and ability in undertaking the above.</li><li>Proven leadership, initiative, creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.</li><li>Demonstrated excellence in curriculum writing, session planning, and group facilitation.</li><li>Demonstrated excellence in collaboration and teamwork skills.</li><li>Demonstrated positive attitude and resilience to intense job demands.</li><li>Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software quickly.</li><li>Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of adherence to and valuing of CLSL policies, procedures, performance standards and confidentiality requirements</li><li>Willingness to work a variety of hours, as per individuals needs. Could include some evening and weekend hours.</li></ul><p></p><p><em>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</em></p><p></p><ul><li>Minimum 2-year post-secondary education in developmental or human services REQUIRED. </li><li>Additional experience or certification in gerontology and/or adult education is an asset.</li><li>Minimum two to three years experience in various support settings with proven ability to work well with persons who may have expressive behaviours and/or have medical and attendant care needs.</li><li>Additional experience working with senior populations will be an asset.</li><li>Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certificate.</li><li>Valid drivers license and use of a vehicle for transport of individuals as necessary.</li></ul><p></p><p>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION</p><ul><li>This is a permanent, full-time position requiring availability to work 80 hours biweekly on a rotating schedule that includes day, evening, and weekend shifts.</li><li>Candidates must demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting individuals across various programs and service needs.</li><li>The successful candidate may be assigned to different locations or programs based on organizational needs and individual support requirements with a primary location.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><em>COMPENSATION:</em></p><ul><li>Starting Salary: As per Collective Agreement -Level 7</li><li>Hours Per Week: As per Collective Agreement 40 hours per week</li><li>Company Benefits: As per Collective Agreement</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><em>CLSL is an equal opportunity employer and values the importance of diversity and the dignity and worth of every individual in the workplace.
