NOW HIRING at Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises: Transport-Canada certified navigation officers (Master/Mate over 60 Gross Tons, or higher or equivalent)
Seasonal contract position: Available April-October or June-September. Competitive compensation commensurate with certification and experience. Sightseeing and dinnerboat cruises in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. 1h – 3h cruises, 100- 300 pax.
As a Vessel Captain or Mate, you will supervise crew in all areas of marine safety, maintain vessel operations and maintenance logs, crew reports and vessel records, and ensure safe operation of vessel at all times, including company approved routes, proper use of equipment during daily operations or during emergencies. You will navigate the vessel on sheltered waters in Canada, conduct emergency drills in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, inspect all areas of vessel to ensure safe conditions, perform primarily accident investigations, and interact with guests to ensure the safety and comfort of the crew and passengers in a hospitality-focused environment.
Qualifications: – Proven experience in marine operations, vessel maintenance, and crew leadership. – Candidates with existing Over 60GT Master Limited, or higher or equivalent, receive immediate application priority. – Comprehensive knowledge of Transport Canada regulations for marine safety, vessel operations, and crew management. – Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, especially in high-pressure situations or emergency scenarios. – Strong organizational and communication skills in English. – Ability to engage with passengers and deliver a memorable experience from boarding to disembarking.
