<p>Position Summary:</p><p>We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our construction operations team. This role is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of heavy civil construction equipment, including but not limited to cranes, hydraulic drill rigs, excavators, loaders, and dozers.</p><p>The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and heavy lifting equipment, with a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and equipment uptime.</p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy equipment, especially cranes and drill rigs.</li><li>Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.</li><li>Carry out complex repairs on engines, transmissions, undercarriages, hydraulic systems, winches, booms, slewing rings, and other critical components.</li><li>Maintain and calibrate hydraulic drill rigs and ensure safe operation parameters are met.</li><li>Perform welding and fabrication as needed for repairs or modifications.</li><li>Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.</li><li>Maintain accurate service records, logs, and repair documentation.</li><li>Work in the field and shop environments, including remote job sites with varying conditions.</li><li>Collaborate with operations and site supervisors to schedule repairs and minimize equipment downtime.</li></ul><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal certification preferred or equivalent)</li><li>Minimum 5+ years of experience working with heavy civil equipment, including cranes and hydraulic drill rigs</li><li>Strong diagnostic skills and hands-on experience with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems</li><li>Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software and tools (e.g., Caterpillar ET, Komatsu, Liebherr, etc.)</li><li>Valid driver's license (Class 1 or 3 an asset) and clean driver's abstract</li><li>Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics</li><li>Strong safety record and understanding of industry-standard safe work practices</li><li>Physically fit and able to lift heavy components and work in challenging environments</li></ul><p>Preferred Skills:</p><ul><li>Mobile crane maintenance certification or crane service technician experience</li><li>Familiarity with hydraulic rotary and percussion drilling equipment</li><li>Experience working in a civil construction, mining, or heavy industrial environment</li><li>Welding certification (e.g., CWB) is an asset</li></ul><p>What We Offer:</p><ul><li>Competitive compensation and overtime opportunities</li><li>Health and dental benefits</li><li>Retirement savings plan / RRSP matching</li><li>Ongoing training and development opportunities</li><li>Supportive team environment with a focus on safety and growth</li></ul><p>To Apply:<br><br>Please submit your resume and certifications to ().</p><p>Job Type: Full-time</p><p>Pay: $75.00-$100.00 per hour</p><p>Expected hours: 40 per week</p><p>Benefits:</p><ul><li>Dental care</li><li>Extended health care</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>On-site parking</li><li>Paid time off</li></ul><p>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Cambridge, ON N1R 7G4</p>
