Job Description Health Care Aides (HCA) are an integral part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team providing care and support to clients during withdrawal management service (detox) within an in-residence treatment setting.

Under the direction of nurses, HCAs play a key role in executing individualized care plans tailored to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each client. Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team at EHN Rockies, the HCA assists nurses and other staff with direct client care, engaging in various responsibilities, including psycho-social support, social engagement, and safety while ensuring the dignity of client is maintained during acute stages of withdrawal management. Duties and Responsibilities Assistance with personal care, mobility and individualized tasks as required.

Preparing light meals for medical clients and ordering lunch & supper meals from the main kitchen Assisting with admissions, discharges and transfers from the medical unit Documentation utilizing EMR related to client care activities Observing and reporting changes in client behavior and condition Escorting clients to off-site medical appointments. Pick up medications or medical supplies from pharmacy or lab as required Transportation of lab specimens for drop off as required. Cleaning and maintenance of the Peak Cabin including client rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and common areas.

Helping set up equipment, ensuring adherence with infection, prevention and control policies and protocols Laundry (Peak Cabin linens and assistance of medical unit client’s personal laundry) Maintaining stock supplies in the Peak Cabin (grocery, cleaning supplies, etc.) Administrative tasks such as: creation of client medication box labels & labels utilized for medical forms; inventory count / management; routine checks of first aid kits etc. Safety checks during the night shift Qualifications Care Aide Certificate or equivalent education certificate. Example: related human/social service field One (1) year recent related experience.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid First Aid Certificate. Valid Food Safe certificate.

Valid class 5 BC driver’s license please note that casual workers do not require this. Class 4 driver’s license an asset. Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 required.

Skills and Abilities Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work as part of a team with a diverse group of staff, professionals, and clients. Commitment and interest in service to individuals experiencing challenges associated with substance use disorder (SUD), in conjunction with concurrent mental health concerns and trauma with preference given to direct experience working in an in-residence treatment center.

Ability to adapt to a changing schedule and the needs of those we serve. Requirements Criminal Record Search (vulnerable sector). Signed Confidentiality Form.
