Our corporate office located in Cambridge, ON, is currently seeking a Head of Human Resources to

oversee and lead the labour relations and recruitment teams. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of policies and procedures, organizational effectiveness, operational excellence and accountability, and executive engagement and governance.



Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Execution


  • Lead the development and execution of the organization’s HR strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to identify and implement innovative HR solutions that drive operational success and enhance employee engagement.
  • Regularly present workforce trends, strategic plans, and progress updates to the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee strategic initiatives such as organizational reviews, workforce planning, pay equity, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all employment, labour, and human rights laws, staying current on legislative updates and HR best practices.

Culture, Engagement, & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Promote and sustain a collaborative culture that reflects the organization’s values.
  • Lead the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, such as satisfaction surveys, recognition programs, and mentorship initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to address performance management, disciplinary actions, and workforce realignment as needed.
  • Drive health, safety, and wellness programs, fostering a culture of well-being and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Talent Acquisition, Retention & Development

  • Execute a talent acquisition strategy, including innovative sourcing methods for hard-to-fill roles and rural locations.
  • Oversee strategies for onboarding, relocation, and retention, ensuring employees have the resources and support to thrive.
  • Sustain talent pipelines and succession planning frameworks to address future organizational needs.
  • Oversee leadership development initiatives and training programs to foster the growth of high-potential employees.

Labour Relations


  • Lead the organization’s overall labour relations strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational needs.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for all union-related matters, including contract negotiations, grievance handling and arbitrations.
  • Develop and implement labour relations policies, practices, and procedures that support positive and proactive union-management relationships.

Operational Excellence & Accountability

  • Provide operational leadership to the HR team, ensuring the effective delivery of services across talent acquisition, benefits and training.
  • Track, analyze, and report on HR metrics, such as absenteeism, grievances and employee turnover.
  • Partner with operations leaders to optimize workforce planning and analytics.

Executive Engagement & Governance

  • Collaborate with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to provide strategic HR insights and recommendations.
  • Represent the organization in external forums and with key stakeholders to promote the visibility and impact of HR initiatives.


Qualifications:


Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
  • Extensive experience in labour relations, talent acquisition, and organizational development.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale strategic HR initiatives and transformations.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification strongly preferred.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance short-term priorities with long-term objectives.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with a track record of inspiring and influencing at all levels of an organization.
  • Expertise in unionized environments, collective bargaining, and grievance resolution.
  • Proficiency in HR metrics, workforce planning, and analytics to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly with executive audiences and boards.
