Job Overview


Seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with strong project coordination experience to join our team in our Markham office. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering geotechnical engineering projects, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring work is completed to the highest technical and professional standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to combine technical expertise with project management responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities



  • Conduct geotechnical site investigations, analysis, and reporting for a range of infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects.

  • Prepare geotechnical design recommendations including foundations, excavations, shoring, retaining walls, ground improvement, settlement/heave assessments, and slope stability, etc.

  • Work closely with the project manager to coordinate project schedules, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and clients.

  • Review technical documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and business development initiatives.

  • Lead field programs including drilling, sampling, in-situ testing, and construction monitoring.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff.

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and applicable provincial/municipal guidelines.


Mandatory Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering (master’s degree considered an asset).

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility for licensure with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) – minimum to be near completion.

  • Minimum 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, with demonstrated project coordination or management responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigation techniques, laboratory testing, and engineering analysis methods.

  • Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual, CSA, Ontario Building Code).

  • Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, SLIDE, PLAXIS, gINT) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
