We are seeking a Professional GIS Consultant to provide domain expertise in the field data collection & remote sensing modules of Genesis AI’s software platforms. The consultant will work closely with software development and data science teams to help build software platform that puts AI tools into the hand of forest carbon analysts and mineral exploration geologists. This role requires a minimum 3 to 4 years of professional experience, with preference given to those with GIS, surveying, forestry, or mineral exploration experience. This is a remote position reporting to a team based primarily in Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Responsibilities


·      Collaborate with clients to gather geospatial data relevant to their project needs.

·      Maintain and operate all GIS/Remote Sensing related products, manage all components of systems database and design, ensuring achievements of all phases for projects and assisting in planning.

·      Organize and catalog collected data, ensuring it is complete, accurate, and properly structured.

·      Proactive in offering solutions to issues and opportunities across all disciplines.



·      Provide guidance to software developers to ensure that the software aligns with the needs and standards of a given project’s industry. 

·      Work closely with product management and business analysts to translate data into requirements and technical product specifications.


·      Work closely with data science teams to the ensure statistical techniques and tools developed are aligned with spatial data science. 

·      Assist in developing policies/procedures to guide operations.



Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant GIS experience
  • Remote Sensing (LiDAR, orthoimagery, multispectral, sonar, magnetometry)
  • Knowledge of RPAS/UAV hardware & software.
  • Experience of field data collection in the natural resources industry.
  • Understanding of surveying methods and spatial data relationships.

·      Understanding and ability to learn GIS desktop & mobile software including but not limited to: ESRI Products, Trimble Products, QGIS, DJI Terra, LiDAR 360

·      Automating workflows


·      Expertise in GIS tools and practices, geodatabases, data collection/processing, cartographic map products, web services etc

·      Fluent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, MS Access, Word, Outlook, Teams).

·      Programming experience (Python, SQL, VB/VBA etc)
