Job Description

The role of a steel tank cleaner involves meticulous cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining various industrial tanks to ensure their optimal functionality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning operations: Clean tanks and vessels according to company procedures, utilizing appropriate equipment and chemicals.
• Remove residues and contaminants: Effectively remove residue and contaminants from tanks using tools like high-pressure water jets, shovels, squeegees, brooms, scrapers, hoses, water, and solvents.
• Use specialized cleaning equipment: Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as pressure washers, air compressors, and various types of cleaning nozzles.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely: Use appropriate cleaning agents like alkaline or acidic detergents and follow safety protocols for handling and storage.
• Inspect tanks for damage or contamination: Examine tanks for damage, leaks, or contamination and report any findings to supervisors.
• Assist with maintenance and minor repairs: Help with maintenance and minor repairs of tanks, including tasks like disassembling and reassembling tank accessories.
• Document cleaning and maintenance activities: Maintain accurate records of all cleaning, disinfection, and inspection activities.
• Adhere to safety protocols: Strictly follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, eye protection, gloves, and respirators.
• Work in confined spaces: Clean tank interiors, often requiring entry into confined spaces, which necessitates following strict safety procedures and possibly requiring confined space entry certification.
• Dispose of waste materials properly: Dispose of waste materials in accordance with regulations.
• Follow environmental and regulatory standards: Ensure all cleaning procedures comply with safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read blueprints.
• Proficiency with power tools and hand tools.
• Experience in assembly, electrical, and mechanical tasks.
• 1 year or more experience cleaning industrial facilities.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience cleaning steel tanks.
• Forklift operation skills.
• Experience with overhead cranes.

Why Work Here

Employees are eligible for profit sharing after one year with the company, including contract time. Profit sharing can equal 10%, which contributes approximately $10,000 per year to an RRSP account. The work environment features very high ceilings and bright lighting, fostering a friendly atmosphere with supportive supervisors.

Work Environment

The role is based in a medium-sized manufacturing company with 6 assembly workstations, 8 welding cells, a paint booth, and an epoxy mold department housing over 10 machines. The facility spans over 200,000 square feet and is maintained to be very clean with ample bright lighting. The position is available for straight days (7am to 3:30pm).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brampton, Ontario.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $21.00/hr.
