<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Work location: Dartmouth C. Playdium</p><p><b>What you will do :</b></p><p>Playdium is a revolutionary concept featuring 30,000 square feet of games, food, and entertainment for teens, kids, and families. It includes state-of-the-art Virtual Reality, video and redemption gaming, rope courses, bowling, and a sit-down family restaurant along with fast casual dining. Cineplex Entertainment is recruiting for the General Manager, Playdium, reporting to the Operations Manager.</p><p>The General Manager (GM) ensures Playdium policies, procedures, and standards are followed within the venue. Responsibilities include protecting company assets, people, inventory, and facilities, and planning, evaluating, and monitoring operations, merchandise, and financial areas across departments to maximize sales and profitability. The GM is accountable for the venue’s profit and loss performance against budget.</p><p>The GM executes company programs, supports operating the business, reduces employee turnover, maintains revenue and payroll budgets, and meets budgeted productivity while maintaining high quality and service. The GM should have a vision and maintain a culture of hospitality and positive morale, and focus on building management bench strength through coaching and feedback.</p><p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p><p><b>Operation Management</b></p><ul><li>Plan, evaluate, and monitor operations, merchandise, and financial areas to maximize sales and profitability through efficient execution of Company programs and standards.</li><li>Manage sales, staffing, and operational budgets and plans to ensure profitability.</li><li>Provide counsel and facilitate resolution of barriers to location performance and guest service standards.</li><li>Evaluate practices and procedures; provide recommendations to the Operations Manager to optimize for changing business needs.</li><li>Ensure cash handling policies and procedures are followed by Managers, Players, and Administrators.</li><li>Share best practices across departments to increase performance and guest satisfaction.</li><li>Evaluate daily operations standards and establish improvement plans for approval by the Operations Manager.</li><li>Ensure execution excellence of Groups & Events across all venues and implement marketing collateral and activations with compliance.</li><li>Manage inventory and shrinkage; maintain communication between venue and Operations Manager/Support Centre.</li><li>Document and communicate progress to Operations Manager.</li><li>Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting restaurant health and safety; identify and rectify safety hazards.</li><li>Achieve operational objectives by preparing action plans and implementing productivity and service standards.</li></ul><p><b>Talent Management</b></p><ul><li>Interview, recruit, train, and coach venue management; plan for succession.</li><li>Conduct regular department meetings, provide feedback, set goals, and evaluate performance.</li><li>Work with teams to execute training and development strategies; implement disciplinary action as needed; provide a supportive environment to improve morale.</li><li>Ensure fair discipline in compliance with Playdium policy and take action for performance/behavior issues.</li><li>Investigate staff concerns; address scheduling requests promptly.</li></ul><p><b>Policy Adherence</b></p><ul><li>Follow Playdium values, policies, and procedures; protect and enhance the Playdium brand; model company culture.</li><li>Maintain records, funds, and property in accordance with policy.</li></ul><p><b>Requirements: What You Need</b></p><ul><li>5 years of experience managing a high-volume restaurant or venue with full Profit & Loss accountability.</li><li>Experience in customer service and people management.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead and direct multiple teams.</li><li>Strong knowledge of restaurant industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques.</li><li>Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.</li><li>Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.</li></ul><p><b>Who You Are</b></p><ul><li>Ability to supervise employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work.</li><li>Ability to analyze customer needs and offer appropriate options and solutions.</li><li>Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills.</li><li>Ability to respond quickly in dynamic environments and adapt to change.</li><li>Highly flexible with strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a diverse environment.</li><li>Proven experience in training, coaching, and mentoring managers and employees.</li><li>Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, partners, employees, and guests.</li><li>Effective verbal and written communication; ability to coordinate meetings and events.</li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.</li></ul><p><b>What Sets You Apart</b></p><ul><li>Post-secondary education in business and/or hospitality preferred.</li><li>Multi-outlet F&B management experience is a plus.</li></ul><p><u>Note: Working Conditions</u></p><ul><li>Some travel may be required.</li><li>Ability to attend and conduct presentations; standing for extended periods.</li><li>Exposure to hot machines and temperatures; walk-in refrigerator and freezer environments.</li><li>Manual dexterity for computer use; extended hours as needed.</li></ul><h3>Life at Cineplex</h3><p>Cineplex is Canada’s largest and most innovative entertainment company, known for The Rec Room and Playdium, among other brands.
