Our Oil & Gas client in Calgary is seeking an experienced General Accountant to join their accounting team. A successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, joint venture and general accounting, tax compliance, and banking. This role will is at the client’s downtown office working 4-5 days per week.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :

  • Record cash transactions, reconcile bank accounts monthly, and maintain master data in Qbyte FM.
  • Process accounts payable invoices in OpenInvoice, ensuring proper coding, sorting, approval, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Monitor OpenInvoice for timely invoice approvals and manage priority and critical payments to meet deadlines.
  • Review and resolve supplier account discrepancies, including reconciling and collecting credits.
  • Handle vendor inquiries, joint venture billing disputes, and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, vendors, and team members.
  • Participate in process optimization, system development, and regular accounting team meetings to address business requirements and enhance efficiency.
  • Foster a positive work environment and support team success while managing ad hoc projects.

Your strengths include :


  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience (2-4 years).
  • Previous oil & gas industry experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (specifically Excel).
  • Previous experience with Qbyte FM and OpenInvoice.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a team player able to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Detail oriented with the capability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively problem solve.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
