Under the general direction of the Restaurant Supervisor and/or Restaurant Manager, this position will be responsible for providing an exemplary on concept guest Food & Beverage dining experience. This position will be responsible for demonstrating effective sales techniques and recommendations to maximize venue generating opportunities and elevate the overall guest experience. Above all else, management must lead by example to create Great Experiences and Memories for all guests and colleagues!
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide professional expert wine, beer or beverage pairing recommendations towards complimenting specific dining choices;
· Demonstrate in depth knowledge of culinary terminology, food allergens, cooking techniques and specific ingredients related to venue concept;
· Anticipate guest needs without being directly asked through observation of body language and active listening;
· Ensure all tables are set correctly for each service period;
· Serve drinks promptly and correctly to guests including garnishes where required;
· Assist guests choose the most appropriate wine and/or drink to accompany their meal;
· Provide alternative dish combinations and/or wine pairing from the menu to suit individual tastes;
· Comply with policies and procedures regarding food hygiene and effectively deal with any non-compliance;
· Identify opportunities to upgrade products and maximize upselling opportunities to increase revenue;
· Identify special dietary requirements for guests and ensure it is communicated correctly to the kitchen;
· Process all cash, credit and debit transactions on the POS system;
· Assess challenging situations and make appropriate decisions on how to resolve them in a professional and timely manner;
Other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager and/or the Food & Beverage Management Team.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
· Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of professional serving experience preferably gained within a 5 star hotel or restaurant establishment;
· Extensive wine experience within a 4 or 5 star hotel or restaurant establishment;
· Must be Smart Service certified;
· Experience across several upscale dining concepts;
· Squirrel POS experience;
· Competency with dining management software systems;
· Completion of Food Safety in Catering ideal;
· Experience making specialty Barista styled beverages;
· Competent in the use of most MS Office software;
· Good command of written and spoken English;
· Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
Ability to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
Work Environment Considerations
· Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables;
· This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 45 lbs.
The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
