We are currently seeking an Accountant for a contract role with one of our clients in Toronto, ON.
Duration: 12 Months
Work model: Hybrid, primarily remote but with certain requirements on-site; paper filings during Tax season (March 15 or March 31).
Key Accountabilities:
- Review financial statements to ensure they are prepared in a timely, accurate manner and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Review T3 Returns for timely, accurate filing, ensuring compliance with the Income Tax Act of Canada.
- Review T2 Returns for timely, accurate filing, ensuring compliance with the Income Tax Act of Canada.
- Analyze complex corporate actions affecting funds, including their accounting and tax impacts, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Calculate and analyze income and capital gains distributions for Mutual Fund Trusts, Mutual Fund Corporations, and Pooled Funds, ensuring compliance with the Income Tax Act of Canada.
- Calculate and analyze tax factors for each class or fund for T3 unitholder filings.
Must-Have Skills:
- Extensive experience in investment fund accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements and notes for investment funds.
- 3-5 years of experience in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing investment fund distributions and tax returns for mutual fund trusts, unit trusts, and mutual fund corporations.
- Fundamental knowledge of IFRS, Canadian Income Tax regulations, and their application to investment funds.
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel, and relevant accounting software.
