Position Summary

At the Toronto Design Center, our Product Development teams provide solutions to our customers through the design and development of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyzing an already released product’s post-customer interaction if any failure of the product occurs in the field.
  • Perform failure analysis on the returned products and generate detailed Failure Analysis reports. Drive root cause and correction based on the failure analysis done.
  • Support failure analysis for design related failures during product development.
  • May occasionally interact with customers to determine additional causes of product failure.
  • Review Failure analysis performed by contract manufacturing for completeness and drive root cause and corrective action.
  • Work both independently and with a team to achieve the best possible results of the analysis.


Experience Required

  •  An Electrical / Electronic Engineering Degree with 1 – 3 years’ experience in electronics or equivalent
    OR 
    Diploma in Electrical/Electronic engineering with at least 5 years hands on experience in failure analysis with power electronics
  • Knowledge of components used in power supplies such as MOSFET, diode, micro-controller, comparator, amplifier, capacitor, magnetics, etc.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement problem solving techniques like 8D, 5Why, and FT etc.
  • Experience with physics of failure (PoF) relating to electronic components such as corrosion, voltage/current overstress, thermal overstress, fatigue, mechanical shock/vibration, etc.
  • Knowledge of PCB and electronic component functions, limitations, packaging, etc.


Work Environment

This position is an on-site role, with one flex day per week of remote work.
