Our client, a global leader in fluid-flow innovation, is looking to hire an Embedded Software Test Engineer. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of embedded systems. You will drive automation and improve testing strategies for cutting-edge products, contributing to reducing carbon footprints and promoting energy efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and automate embedded system test cases to meet product specifications.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard frameworks (e.g., pyTest, Robot).
• Perform system-level testing, including functional, regression, performance, and stress testing.
• Build test automation capabilities, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, firmware developers, and cloud/mobile teams to define test strategies.
• Ensure test environments are properly equipped and configured.
• Identify, document, and prioritize defects; collaborate with development teams for resolution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and techniques.
• Track quality metrics and promote best practices.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years in Software QA or Verification, with a focus on embedded systems testing.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation, using frameworks like Robot or pyTest.
• Hands-on experience in embedded system testing, particularly with controller cards or product-based equipment.
• Ability to convert manual tests into automated tests.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and scripting languages (e.g., Python).
• Understanding of communication/networking protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, Wi-Fi, BLE, CAN).
• Experience in validating embedded software and integration with mobile/cloud, HIL, SIL, and IoT.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in IoT, cloud technologies and mobile app integration for end-to-end testing is an asset.
• Knowledge of HIL and SIL testing
• Experience with RTOS, control systems, and embedded cybersecurity is an asset.

Work Environment

The team comprises 20 people in Canada and 10 in India, including approximately 20 embedded developers, three hardware designers, six QA, and two product owners. This position requires 4-5 days in the office. The work environment fosters growth, creativity, and collaboration, offering opportunities to learn, advance, and make a meaningful impact.

This is a Contract position based out of Scarborough, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
