Their advanced engineering division, based in Metro Vancouver, specializes in designing and developing heavy-duty battery-powered electric drive systems and supporting infrastructure. The team is dedicated to creating proprietary EV components at the PCB level and delivering complete turn-key systems, including battery packs, vehicle structures, a world-leading dyno, and proprietary firmware and control systems for drive motors, chargers, controllers, DC/DC converters, and battery management systems.
Job Description:
We are looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to contribute to the development and optimization of next-generation battery-electric mining equipment.
This role will involve working with electrical systems, power distribution, and control circuits to create innovative solutions for a rapidly evolving industry. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with a passion for clean technology and a desire to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), including power distribution and control circuits.
- Create and analyze electrical schematics and layouts for integration into vehicle systems.
- Assist in the routing and integration of wire harnesses and electrical components.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for manufacturing.
- Research and source electrical components, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in the development of battery management systems (BMS) and vehicle control systems.
Skills and Qualifications:
Must-Have:
- Electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, power distribution, and control systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD tools.
- Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of high-voltage systems and battery technologies.
- Experience with motor control systems and power electronics.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance requirements.
To really impress:
- Hands-on experience with BEV systems and components.
- Knowledge of CANbus communication and embedded control systems.
- Prototyping and testing experience with electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience with mining equipment or heavy-duty industrial vehicles.
- Experience with firmware and control systems development.
