Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team for a construction project in The Woodlands, Texas, USA (on-site position).

-Project: Photovoltaic Plant


-Estimated duration of the position: 2 years – In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.

-Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical design documents and drawings for renewable energy/ BESS projects.
  • Develop Electrical Engineering calculation processes for String sizing, DC and MV cable calculations, studies, Inverter sizing, and Inverter quantities for projects.
  • Develop preliminary design concepts based on engineering principles for solar PV and BESS system design for RFPs.
  • Interface with clients, project management, procurement professionals, and other engineering disciplines in matters dealing with project electrical systems.
  • Work with different departments to provide ongoing support with design concepts and design optimization of the solar PV systems.
  • Work with CAD designers to guide through layouts, single-line diagrams, and other design drawings and details.
  • Ensure appropriate procedures, design guidelines, and design tools are utilized on projects.
  • Attend and participate in project-related meetings.
  • Perform other assigned duties as determined by the EE Manager.
  • Develop in-depth expertise in modules, racking systems, inverters, and drivers to accurately design utility-scale solar PV projects.

-Working hours: Monday to Friday: 40 hours weekly


-Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years experience as an Electrical Design Engineer in the construction of Photovoltaic Plants of >70 MW size.
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and PVsyst.
  • Proficient in understanding manufacturers’ design specifications, application constraints, and installation requirements.
  • Experienced in creating engineered solar PV site plans and single-line diagrams for both DC and AC systems.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
