Our Developmental Services residential programs provide life skills training and transition planning for males with developmental disabilities/dual diagnosis, aged 18 and older. The role involves supports, counseling, life skills facilitation, safety, crisis management, administrative, clerical, and facilities duties.



HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

  • Support and Counseling: Assist individuals with daily living activities such as hygiene, budgeting, cooking, nutrition, social skills, and community engagement, helping them achieve their goals.
  • Life Skills Facilitation: Deliver programming in-home and in the community to promote independent living skills.
  • Community Outings/Escorts: Support individuals to participate safely in community activities.

  • Conflict Management: Manage challenging behaviors in residential and community settings using appropriate strategies and crisis intervention techniques.

  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff according to policies and laws.
  • Administrative Duties: Provide clerical and administrative support to the program.


WHO YOU ARE

Education/Experience:


  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Social Services (e.g., BSW, BA, DSW, SSW).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Valid First Aid and Safe Management certifications.
  • At least two years of recent experience in the Developmental Service sector, including working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis, supports and counseling, life skills facilitation, and community supports.
  • Knowledge of the Social Inclusion Act and the Act for the Supports of Persons with Developmental Disabilities (2008).
  • Understanding of community resources, both internal and external.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Facilitation skills to promote independence in living skills.
  • Assessment skills for service delivery and risk evaluation.
  • Program planning and evaluation skills.
  • Effective crisis intervention skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Core competencies in flexibility and change management.

Nice to Have: Ability to communicate in French verbally and in writing.
