– Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Planning Act as a key liaison with senior leadership to ensure enterprise applications meet business goals and end-user requirements. Present application strategies, roadmaps, risks, and developments to firm leadership, making recommendations for improvement. Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of current applications, providing strategies for optimization or leveraging opportunities.

Maintain ownership of the Canadian application portfolio, ensuring that roadmaps, inventories, and operational guides are up to date and in alignment with the firm’s strategic goals. Lead the lifecycle management of applications, including retirement and decommissioning of outdated systems. Manage the annual budget related to application maintenance and services.

Application Deployment & Development Research, recommend, and oversee the procurement and deployment of new software products and services. Evaluate, install, configure, and implement enhancements to existing applications across the firm’s enterprise systems. Coordinate feasibility studies for software solutions under consideration, providing guidance on potential problem areas.

Lead the integration of new applications, ensuring compliance with technical and security guidelines in collaboration with the Technical Design Authority (TDA) . Support the globalization of core business systems, ensuring they facilitate the expanding international business of the firm. Operational Management Manage the application team to support business operations, including providing mentorship and development opportunities.

Collaborate with technical teams such as network administrators and software engineers to support program logic, data processing, and quality assurance. Develop training plans and ensure the transfer of knowledge within the team to maintain high operational standards. Act as the escalation point for 3rd-level support issues and manage the application disaster recovery processes.

Champion IT service management (ITSM) processes, ensuring adherence to established ITSM protocols such as Incident, Problem, and Change Management . Actively participate as a Change Advisory Board (CAB) member, reviewing and approving change requests, and ensuring change processes are followed. Team Leadership & Development Manage a team of direct and indirect reports, providing direction, mentorship, and identifying growth opportunities.

Develop team processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the enterprise applications team and with external teams. Build and maintain positive working relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication between technical and non-technical groups. Required Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 15 years of IT experience, progressing from developer/integrator/DBA to senior leadership roles. 10+ years of experience in direct resource management, with 5+ years in senior IT leadership positions.

Proven technical expertise in software development (e.g., .NET, SQL), integration technologies, and systems architecture. Strong experience in managing geographically distributed teams and providing leadership to highly technical staff. Expertise in translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets, procurement processes, and financial management best practices. ITIL Foundation certification required; certifications in PMP, CBAP, Agile project management, and/or TOGAF, COBIT are beneficial. Proven experience in business planning, strategy development, and delivering large-scale technology implementations.

Experience with cybersecurity standards and mitigating application risks in alignment with ISO 27001 certification. Prior experience working in partnership or matrix-based organizations, with knowledge of legal industry technology highly desirable. Strong analytical, conceptual, and strategic planning skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
