The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading and coordinating activities across Applications Engineering, Design Engineering, Research and Development, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance. This role ensures the development and implementation of efficient designs, manufacturing strategies, and cost-effective systems to meet current and future business needs. The Director will continuously review and enhance policies and procedures to improve productivity, ensure quality, and reduce production issues, with a strong focus on improving on-time delivery, reducing costs, and increasing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead departmental operations in line with internal policies and relevant legislation, including recruitment, performance management, training, and conflict resolution.
  • Develop, mentor, and hold accountable all direct reports while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Identify and implement relevant training opportunities.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards to monitor workflow and departmental throughput.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Sales, Supply Chain, and Production teams.
  • Drive modernization of engineering functions, including 3D modeling, automated BOM generation, file management, and product standardization.
  • Manage the introduction of new products, design changes, and associated updates to BOMs and routings.
  • Oversee cost analysis and milestone tracking for development projects, ensuring budget and timeline adherence.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of engineering and product development initiatives.
  • Recommend and integrate new technologies to improve design and manufacturing processes.
  • Standardize engineering practices, processes, and security protocols.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends.
  • Implement error-reduction strategies across engineering functions.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance team, including audit participation, ISO compliance, NCR/ECR resolution, and assembly/testing support.
  • Implement effective snag sheet tracking and timely disposition on the shop floor.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and provide solutions for field issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Skills:

  • P.Eng. designation in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience (centrifugal pumps preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering practices and procedures.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • ERP system experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary $150,000 – $225,000 (with opportunity to exceed based on experience)
