WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?


We are seeking a Data Engineering leader to drive the management of Data engineering solutions on RBC’s Capital Markets Data and AI Hybrid Multi‑cloud Platforms, that meet the strategic data objectives of the business. As a Director of Data Fabric Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, architecture, and maintenance of highly available, scalable and robust systems, contributing to drive value and stable business operations across Capital Markets data & infrastructure teams.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?



  • Work with the Business, Product Managers, Developers, Data Engineers and Platform leads to coordinate and multitask on various projects.

  • Mentor infrastructure team, connect with business teams to leverage deep technical expertise with modern data engineering tools and platforms, contributing to healthy production environments.

  • Oversee Cloud Infrastructure Management and lead the on‑prem to Azure Cloud migration projects.

  • Review data trends, best practices and emerging data technologies and capabilities across the industry, incorporating innovation to continuously enhance data strategy while supporting evolving business objectives.

  • Strategize and lead the Operational Performance Enhancement process focusing on mitigating risk and increasing efficiencies.

  • Define and offer strategic solutions addressing key pain points to sustain & strengthen existing and potential customer and vendor relations.

  • Ensure alignment of the bank’s infrastructure with a solid understanding of data governance, security best practices, compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, senior business leaders, and cross‑functional teams.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?


Must have:



  • 10+ years’ experience with Data, Infrastructure and Engineering.

  • Broad understanding of financial services, data management principles, including data governance, architecture and integration.

  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms and Kubernetes (e.g., MS Azure, AWS, Databricks, OCP, Kubernetes, Azure).

  • Exceptional people influence skills, including the ability to collaborate with multiple teams and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • A strong aptitude and desire for learning.


Nice-to-have



  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Job Schedulers, Helios, GitHub).

  • Experience with incident management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence).

  • Broad knowledge of financial services information systems, data management applications and “big data” tools such as Hadoop, Dremio, Ignite, Middleware systems, SQL, Python, Snowflake, etc.
