Job Overview: Are you passionate about competition law and compliance management. Are you knowledgeable about leading an outstanding compliance program, risk and control fundamentals and changing processes and culture to effect desired change.

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer, and leading a team of two Compliance Managers, this role will work closely with key partners throughout the business to manage and continuously improve the Competition Law Compliance Program (the “Program”) for Loblaw Companies Limited and its affiliates/subsidiaries.

Roles and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work closely with key partners throughout the business and the Legal Department to implement, operationalize and maintain the Competition Law Compliance Program, and help to ensure colleagues know and understand the competition law risks that effect their role and the policies and procedures in place to handle those risks. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following roles and responsibilities: Subject Matter Expert: Be a subject matter expert in competition law compliance for the business, with support and advice from the Legal Department.

Business Resource: Be a resource for Loblaw colleagues by addressing questions or concerns related to competition law and Loblaw’s related policies, procedures and guidelines. Attend team meetings/town halls to provide information and address questions as required.

Risk Assessment: Assess Program risks, through facilitated workshops and other means, across the enterprise to ensure that existing controls address those risks. Control Design and Monitoring: Review and map business processes and design controls to mitigate risks.

Identify and assess options for automating compliance processes in order to improve the efficiency of the Program, including opportunities for continuous control monitoring. Incident Management: Lead the Competition Law Compliance incident management process, including investigating, escalating, and documenting incidents of non-compliance.

Training: Collaborate with all business units to train colleagues with respect to their obligations under the Competition Act. Policy Management: Draft, review, and update competition law policies, procedures, and guidance documents.

Testing and Audit Support: Oversee operational testing and design review of controls and ensure readiness for external audits of the Program. Proven Ability to: Identify and assess risks and implications resulting from business or regulatory changes.

Demonstrate deep knowledge in risk and control fundamentals. Manage business and regulatory changes affecting the Program with strong planning, communication, and execution.

Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to change and meet timelines. Build relationships and influence stakeholders.

Exhibit strong attention to detail, great organizational and project management skills, good judgment, and the ability to prioritize assignments, solve problems, and meet deadlines. Demonstrate excellent communication (written, oral and presentation), interpersonal and people management skills.

Exercise strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to synthesize complex information into accessible and meaningful business guidance. Maintain discretion and/or confidentiality.

Come to work with a positive attitude, a desire to learn, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get work done, either independently or as part of a team. Professional Competencies: 5-7 years compliance management and/or competition law experience.

A law degree is not required but is a plus. Extensive experience assessing and completing change management initiatives to ensure changes are adopted.

Strategic thinking and oversight over the collection, manipulation, and analysis of high volumes of data using advanced Excel or other means. Advanced knowledge of, and experience using, the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Regulatory experience, including competition law experience, in a large complex organization is a plus. French language skills are a plus.
