We encourage you to Choose GNB!</h3><p>The department of Finance and Treasury Board, Agency Relations Branch is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented, and seasoned leader to fill the position of Director.</p><h3>Who we are</h3><p>The Agency Relations Branch plays a vital role in the oversight and strategic management of provincial agencies operating in New Brunswick’s gaming, alcohol, and retail cannabis sectors.</p><p>This dynamic branch supports two key Crown Corporations the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation (NBLGC) and the Cannabis Management Corporation (CMC), overseeing high-impact service provider agreements with Casino New Brunswick, Grey Rock Casino, Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC.ca), and Cannabis New Brunswick, which manages the province’s retail cannabis model.</p><p>Additionally, the branch is responsible for the administration of gaming revenue-sharing agreements with First Nation communities, ensuring collaboration and mutual benefit through thoughtful governance and relationship management.</p><p>As part of the Corporate Services Division within the Department of Finance and Treasury Board, the Agency Relations Branch is seeking a transformational, strategic leader with a proven ability to build strong relationships and drive results within a complex and evolving ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to public sector excellence while shaping the future of regulated industries in New Brunswick.</p><h3>What you will do</h3><p>Are you a dynamic and strategic leader ready to take on a high-impact role at the intersection of public policy, regulation, and industry oversight? The Agency Relations Branch within the Department of Finance and Treasury Board is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Agency Relations to help shape the future of gaming, cannabis, and alcohol regulation in New Brunswick.</p><p>Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of Corporate Services and Agency Relations, the Director will play a key leadership role overseeing critical Crown Corporations and guiding strategic decision-making that directly impacts provincial revenues and public policy.</p><p>As Director, you will:</p><ul><li>Collaborate with the ADM to provide high-level strategic advice to Ministers responsible for ANBL, Cannabis NB, NBLGC, and the Cannabis Management Corporation (CMC);</li><li>Oversee the day-to-day operations of the NBLGC, managing relationships with key partners and proactively addressing emerging issues;</li><li>Lead the preparation and delivery of detailed briefing and submission packages for NBLGC and CMC Board meetings;</li><li>Lead a multidisciplinary team of analysts specializing in finance, compliance, and anti-money laundering;</li><li>Provide strategic financial and policy oversight for sectors generating $183M (gaming) and $22M (cannabis) in annual net profits for the province;</li><li>Manage relationships with key external partners including Atlantic Lottery Corporation, Casino NB, Grey Rock Casino, and Cannabis NB;</li><li>Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in partnership with Justice and Public Safety, particularly related to the Criminal Code, Gaming Control Act, and Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act;</li><li>Oversee all federal reporting obligations under NBLGC’s Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Program;</li><li>Administer $14M in gaming revenue-sharing agreements with First Nations communities;</li><li>Oversee development of annual financial statements and reports, and lead responses to audits by the Auditor General;</li><li>Monitor trends in the cannabis and gaming sectors, providing strategic insights to guide Board decisions;</li><li>Represent New Brunswick on Federal-Provincial-Territorial working groups on cannabis and responsible gambling;</li><li>No two days will be the same in this dynamic, impactful role.</li></ul><h3>Need to have</h3><p>The successful candidate will be a sound professional who possesses strong leadership skills and experience in successfully leading complex initiatives.</p><h3>Essential Qualifications</h3><p>Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, social science or a related degree and a minimum of 9 years of directly related and progressively responsible work experience in the development, implementation and communications of policy and business development initiatives or related work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ experience managing staff.</p><p>An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.</p><p>Written and spoken competence in <strong>English </strong>is required. <strong>Please state your language capability.</strong></p><p>Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.
