<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>An automotive plastics parts manufacturer in the area of Woodstock, ON is currently searching for a</p><p><b>Design Engineer</b></p><p>to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, modifying, and improving parts that meet performance, cost, and manufacturability standards.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Design and develop automotive plastic components using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks).</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, quality, and sales) to ensure design feasibility and performance.</li><li>Conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify and mitigate design risks.</li><li>Modify and optimize designs based on testing results, customer feedback, and tooling limitations.</li><li>Support tooling development and ensure designs are compatible with injection molding and assembly processes.</li><li>Prepare and maintain design documentation including 2D drawings, create 3D model, BOMs, and engineering change requests.</li><li>Interact directly with customers and suppliers to review specifications and incorporate design changes.</li><li>Ensure designs comply with automotive industry standards, safety regulations, and cost targets.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in engineering or a related technical field is required</li><li>Minimum 3 years' experience using CAD design software's (Catia V5, Siemens NX 11)</li><li>2 years of experience in testing / validation equipment such as spray equipment and Instron</li><li>Knowledge of Mold Flow is a big plus</li><li>Strong work experience of plastics & other automotive parts materials will be a big plus</li><li>May be required to travel and visit other company sites at times including plants in the US.</li><li>Great communication skills in read, speak and write both internal and and with customers</li><li>While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 35 pounds, lift in excess of 35 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts / equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear.
