Learn more about H&M here.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>Department Managers are responsible for sales maximization, customer service, and department profitability, and for coaching teams within a department. They work according to H&M values, standards, policies, and procedures, and focus on developing their teams — acting as both manager and mentor.</p><h3>Job Responsibilities</h3><p>People</p><ul><li>Organize and distribute the work of staff, set priorities, and maintain an overview of tasks in consultation with the Store Manager</li><li>Manage, recruit, onboard, train, develop, and provide succession planning for staff in the store in partnership with the Store Manager</li><li>Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including approving time-off requests, pay, location or title changes; handling corrective actions and employment decisions</li><li>Assist the Store Manager in maintaining Employee Relations responsibilities to ensure a positive work environment</li></ul><p>Commerciality</p><ul><li>Take action within the department to maximize sales through joint operational and commercial focus for profitability</li><li>Ensure the team has knowledge on product, campaigns, promotions, display guidelines, and merchandise information</li><li>Ensure garment presentation, garment level, and visual standards meet H&M expectations</li><li>Plan and coordinate with the visual team on campaigns, promotions, and sales activities in the department</li></ul><p>Operations</p><ul><li>Schedule staff according to business needs and adjust hours to reach store and SPH goals</li><li>Work with sales and cost plans, budgets, and other tools to maximize profitability</li><li>Be responsible for knowledge and completion of cash office operational functions</li><li>Follow safety and security routines to prevent loss and ensure safety of employees and customers</li><li>May be assigned overall store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager</li></ul><p>Customer Service</p><ul><li>Maintain high-quality direct and indirect customer service and model the 5 basic demands on the selling floor, fitting room, and cashpoint</li></ul><p>Financial Accountability</p><ul><li>Assist Store Manager in establishing and overseeing sales and cost plans, budgets, and variable costs; analyze comparable sales, budgeting, and trends to maximize profitability</li><li>Accurately record sales and worked hour figures</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>High School graduate or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred</li><li>Preferably 2-3 years of retail management experience with direct supervisory responsibilities</li><li>Ability to lift in excess of 20 pounds</li><li>Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks (bending, reaching, climbing a ladder, etc.)</li><li>Competencies: exceptional customer service, strong organizational and analytical skills, proactive sales focus, merchandising ability, initiative, strategic/tactical/operational thinking, multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Effective communication and feedback skills; conflict resolution abilities; experience with progressive discipline and performance management</li><li>Basic computer skills (navigation, data entry)</li><li>Open availability including evenings and weekends; minimal travel as needed (e.g., workshops)</li><li>Job Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>EEOC Code: SLS</p><p><b>Benefits</b></p><p>H&M Group offers attractive benefits and development opportunities.
