Location: Mississauga, ON - Hybrid

Employment: Contract opportunity

Must be willing to attend Client L1 at Synechron's Mississauga/Montreal office.

Job Description:

  • Lead and contribute to one or more end-to-end Master Data Management (MDM) projects, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity across enterprise systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, architectures, and integrations to support critical business functions.
  • Work with reference data, particularly in financial services, ensuring accurate and timely data updates, transformations, and storage.
  • Build and optimize scalable data workflows using a range of tools and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain microservices, particularly leveraging GraphQL, to facilitate efficient data access and manipulation.
  • Implement data solutions on cloud platforms such as Data Bricks, Snowflake, and Azure, utilizing Azure Data Factory (ADF) and related services.
  • Write optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT processes).
  • Orchestrate and automate workflows using tools like Apache Airflow or Astronomer, ensuring reliable and repeatable data operations.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Monitor data pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and robustness.
  • Document architecture, workflows, and procedures, maintaining clear communication across teams.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with proven experience in large-scale MDM projects.
  • Strong understanding of reference data management, especially within the finance industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in programming languages and tools such as:
  • Python for scripting and automation
  • Kafka for real-time data streaming
  • Microservices development, with a focus on GraphQL
  • Cloud-based data platforms like Data Bricks and Snowflake
  • Cloud services on Azure, including Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • SQL for data querying and manipulation
  • Workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Astronomer
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills to effectively liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the finance or banking sector with a strong understanding of financial reference data.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices related to data engineering.
  • Certification or demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Data Engineer certifications).
  • Prior exposure to data governance and compliance standards relevant to financial data.
