<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: $21.25 per hour<br /><p>Custodian<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Posting Type: External (CUPE Local 5478)</p><p>Rate: $21.25/hour</p><p>Employment Type: Relief</p><p>Location: Multiple; (Main Building and Mercy House/Shelter)</p><p>Shifts: Flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Overview<br />The Gathering Place is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our Guests, Staff, and Volunteers. Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, this position plays a key role in supporting the health, safety, and dignity of everyone who walks through our doors.<br />Working across multiple sites, the Custodian will carry out our regular cleaning duties, uphold safety protocols, and ensure that all areas are sanitized according to a documented cleaning plan.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>What Youll Do<br><br>- Maintain cleanliness across all areas by following daily and weekly cleaning schedules.</p><p>- Safely handle cleaning products and equipment in line with WHIMIS and infection control standards.<br />- Replenish supplies (paper products, soap, etc.) as needed.<br />- Keep custodial carts and storage areas clean, organized, and stocked.<br />- Report any safety issues, equipment malfunctions, or supply needs.<br />- Uphold respectful and professional conduct while working in shared spaces.<br />- Adapt to shift needs including evenings, weekends, and holidays.<br />- Support TGPs mission and values through safe and consistent custodial practices.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>What You Bring</p><p><br />- Experience in custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping work, preferably in community or institutional settings.<br />- WHMIS training or chemical safety knowledge (asset)<br />- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.<br />- Strong reliability, time management, and attention to detail<br />- Comfort working independently or as part of a team<br />- Respectful approach to working in environments that support vulnerable populations<br />- Clear Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check required</p><p><br /></p><p>Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered.<br><br>Apply here directly!
