This opportunity is ideal for a CPA-designated professional coming from a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) who is ready to step into a corporate manager role. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, real estate industry exposure, and a passion for process improvement and mentorship.
What You'll Accomplish in This Role
- Oversee full-cycle corporate accounting, including monthly close, reconciliations, and variance analysis across multiple entities.
- Prepare annual consolidated financial statements, including intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation.
- Manage sales tax compliance (GST/HST, QST) and ensure adherence to ASPE and internal controls.
- Supervise and mentor a small corporate accounting team (senior and junior accountants).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with property management, asset management, and tax teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support the annual budget and quarterly reforecast process, along with weekly and quarterly cash forecasting.
- Lead and liaise with external auditors on year-end audits and tax filings.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency.
- Contribute to a positive, high-performing culture that encourages teamwork, respect, and professional growth.
What You'll Bring to the Table
- CPA designation (required).
- 5+ years of experience in corporate finance or public accounting (real estate audit or industry experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of ASPE and consolidation principles.
- Experience managing or mentoring staff, with a leadership mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software; Yardi experience is an asset.
- Proven analytical skills with a problem-solving, "think outside the box" approach.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Motivated self-starter with strong organizational and time management abilities.

Compensation & Details
Salary Range: $100-120K + annual bonus (flexible based on experience)
Location: Hybrid, Greater Toronto Area
