The clinical child and youth psychologist will have the opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary team of clinicians to deliver a portion of our comprehensive Child and Youth parents seeking to understand their child better, our Child and Youth Assessment provides tailored strategies to help their child reach their potential.
The Child and Youth Assessment provides specific insights to parents based on their child’s unique physical, social and emotional needs.There will be a potential opportunity to work with individuals and/or families as part of your Medcan practice.Child and Youth Assessment Accountabilities:Conducting, interpreting and reviewing client cognitive and behavioural assessment resultsAdapting a 1-hour session in real time to reflect both child profile and expressed parent needsDepending on age and maturity of child, discussing strategies with parents to help mentor and inspire confidence and success and/or directly discussing strategies with child.Building strong relationships with the child’s Medcan team to coordinate care and enhance the client experiencePrepare a summary report to reflect relevant client insights and action plans which may include referrals and resource recommendationsMaintaining documentation as requiredProvide exceptional client experience and client-centered careFollow Medcan procedures for all documentation, timelines, coordination with internal teams and follow up careAdhere to standards of best practiceRequirements:Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or Psy.DRegistration in Child and Adolescence PsychologyCurrent registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of OntarioStrict adherence to the College of Psychologists of Ontario’s Standards and Professional ConductDemonstrable clinical experience with childrenExperience providing individual and family counselling to children and youthExperience working with relationship and parenting challengesSuperior organization and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to respectfully and tactfully interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholdersProficient in Microsoft Office: Word and OutlookProfessional referencesThis is an Independent Contractor role that reports to the Clinical Director, Mental Health.
