Destination Ontario’s mission is to generate demand and inspire travel to and within Ontario for the benefit of residents, communities, and the provincial economy. Through strategic marketing, industry collaboration, and data-driven insights, they promote Ontario as a leading four-season destination for leisure and business travel in domestic and key international markets. Destination Ontario is seeking an inspiring Chief Executive Office (CEO) & President to lead the promotion of Ontario as a top destination both domestically and internationally. The CEO & President reports to the Board of Directors and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming, with a mandate to drive economic growth through strategic marketing and leading the development and execution of key initiatives aimed at strengthening accountability to the public. A champion of safe, effective, and evidence-based practices, the CEO works to reduce avoidable costs while improving service delivery within the sector. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and counterparts in other jurisdictions.

About the Job
The CEO & President, Destination Ontario has the following primary responsibilities:
- providing leadership in strategic marketing and brand development consistent with the decisions of the Board of Directors
- building and maintaining industry stakeholder partnerships within the tourism, destination marketing fields and public sector
- overseeing broad business operations, organizational transformation, and large-scale initiatives
- building and leading high-performing teams through periods of change
- leading the strategic planning, priority setting, and overall direction of the organization
- providing leadership in the day-to-day operational management including financial, human and material resources
- advising and briefing the Board of Directors and Deputy Minister on the strategic, operational and financial plans and issues of major importance

Job Specific
You are a tourism industry leader that:
- has a background in business development or a similar sector that includes marketing
- has a demonstrated understanding of the principles of design thinking and modern approaches to effectively reach target audiences
- has knowledge of economic development as it relates to tourism principles and practices to direct effective provincial, national and international marketing initiatives
- understands current trends and stakeholder interests in the tourism industry and other related sectors
