MAIN DUTIES:
As the Lead Host for Casa Madera, you will work effectively as part of Casa Madera’s service team, primarily responsible for supervising the host team, and ensuring exceptional guest service. You’ll handle guest issues, train staff, and collaborate with management to improve procedures.
Overall, your role is vital in maintaining smooth operations and upholding service standards. In addition, warmly greets guests, managing reservations and seating arrangements, maintaining a tidy area, and assisting in managing waitlists and addressing guest inquiries. You will play a key role in ensuring a positive dining experience from the moment guests arrive to when the guests leave.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Supervise and train new host staff.
- Conduct regular meetings or training sessions with the host team to ensure consistency and quality of service.
- Assist in creating and maintaining the host schedule.
- Coordinate with management to implement improvements in host procedures and guest service.
- Act as a liaison between front-of-house team and management, communicating any pertinent information or updates.
- Collaborate with servers and management to coordinate table turnover as well as communication reservations.
- Handle escalated guest issues or complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimize guest flow and minimize wait times.
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and obtain their name and communicate effectively with guests regarding wait times and table availability.
- Take reservations and conduct confirmation calls.
- Ensure tables have been set and bring guests to their tables and provide menus and have thorough conversational knowledge of menus.
- Manage the waitlist and prioritize seating according to reservations and walk-ins.
- Handle special requests or accommodations for guests, such as seating preferences or special occasions.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of host supplies, such as menus, reservation books, and seating charts.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as completing shift reports or updating reservation systems.
- Answer phone calls and handle guest inquiries over the phone or in person.
- Maintain a clean and organized lobby/waiting area.
- Strict adherence to uniform & grooming standards.
- Uphold restaurant policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- High school diploma or a general education degree (GED).
- 2 years of hosting experience is required, experience in a fine-dining setting is an asset.
- Ability to respond to and creatively resolve guest inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong interpersonal staff and guest relations is required.
- Experience with using reservation and guest management systems (such as SevenRooms, OpenTable) is an asset.
- Must have an updated Smart Serve Certificate.
