The CAD Technician / Project Estimator  is an on-site role responsible for preparing technical CAD drafts and drawings while providing support with project estimates and quotations throughout the project lifecycle. This role works closely with sales, project services, distributors, installers and internal manufacturing teams to support design-build solutions for healthcare projects. The position combines project estimating/quotation preparation with 2D AutoCAD drafting, BIM coordination, creation of submittal packages to ensure project accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

Job Responsibilities
CAD/BIM Technical Drafting Support

  • Prepare and update 2D AutoCAD drawings, including dimensional and installation drawings

  • Revise existing drawings to reflect design changes for manufacturing and assembly

  • Review construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings for accuracy and compliance

  • Ensure drawings meet applicable codes, guidelines, and regulatory requirements

  • Support projects from conceptual and preliminary design stages through to completion

  • Assist in maintaining consistent documentation standards for CAD data management

Project Estimating & Quotation

  • Study specifications, floor plans, and construction drawings to prepare budgetary quotations

  • Perform detailed take-offs from Plumbing, Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical drawings

  • Prepare customer quotations, submittal packages, and supporting documentation for bids

  • Use product knowledge to assist in the design-build process

  • Work directly with sales, project services, distributors, installers and clients

  • Maintain quality service by following organizational standards

Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • Education in Engineering, Architectural Technology, CAD/Drafting, or a related field

  • Past project estimating experience preferred

  • Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural background considered an asset

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD 2D/Revit etc.) and experience with BIM coordination (required)

  • Ability to read and interpret CAD plans, construction drawings, and specifications

  • Experience reviewing construction plans and specification documents

  • Experience performing take-offs from construction drawings

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000
