With 1,400 employees in nine plants in Canada and the United States, we continually innovate to exceed expectations.</p><h3>Position summary</h3><p>Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Business Unit Leader is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production by providing effective, empowered leadership to the production line assigned. This role provides leadership within the management team and ensures efficient communication between the unit and other departments. Responsibilities include training opportunities for the production staff and other tasks. The role requires action orientation, the ability to lead teams, and proficiency in managing manufacturing KPIs.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Manage and coordinate activities with supervisors and/or employees in production to maintain plant efficiencies and standards.</li><li>Observe daily operations and alert the appropriate supervisor of problems or opportunities.</li><li>Train and mentor team members; motivate them for effective performance and growth of the company.</li><li>Ensure unit compliance with safety standards, quality regulations, policies, and training requirements.</li><li>Follow quality and safety programs to ensure products meet the highest standards.</li><li>Develop and implement operating methods and procedures to eliminate problems and improve product quality.</li><li>Develop and communicate the company\'s expectations and vision to unit members; coordinate with other department heads for organizational growth.</li><li>Provide training to team leaders and supervisors on procedures, standards, policies, and handling of employees and equipment.</li><li>Provide guidance to team leaders, supervisors, hourly staff, and temporary workers within the department.</li><li>Monitor employee performance and follow up with supervisors as needed.</li><li>Review performance evaluations for accuracy, fairness, and consistency.</li><li>Recommend promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions as appropriate.</li><li>Coordinate with Human Resources on personnel actions to ensure policy compliance.</li><li>Track key performance indicators; adjust production schedules and priorities in response to equipment failure or operational issues.</li><li>Coordinate production activities with maintenance, quality control, and sanitation to optimize resource use.</li><li>Participate in Safety Audits, Quality Audits, 6S Audits, and other audits.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications/Requirements</h3><ul><li>Bachelor\'s degree in Business Management, Food Science, or equivalent education/experience in the food industry.</li><li>5 years of manufacturing management/supervision experience preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of GFSI/BRC, SQF, GMP, and other food safety standards including HACCP or similar regulations.</li><li>Experience in a Continuous Improvement environment (Lean Manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma, etc.).</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications.</li><li>Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills; strong accountability and follow-through.</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and meet tight schedules.</li><li>Ability to identify opportunities and develop specific plans and goals.</li><li>Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions.</li><li>Motivating leadership to foster teamwork and cooperation.</li><li>Flexible schedule including some evenings and nights.</li></ul><h3>Working at Leclerc</h3><ul><li>We\'re a family business on a human scale, offering a clean, temperate environment with the latest technology.</li><li>Embrace high-velocity production and cutting-edge technology.</li><li>Paid and adapted training at start date; competitive salary; comprehensive benefits (drug and dental, vacation/sick policies, telemedicine, group RRSP with employer participation, and more).</li><li>Access to product discounts and exclusive innovations.</li><li>Opportunities for advancement and job security within the company.</li><li>Supportive company culture with gifts and programs (e.g., rewards, Poka platform).</li></ul><h3>Seniority level</h3><p>Associate</p><h3>Employment type</h3><p>Temporary</p><h3>Job function</h3><ul><li>Management and Manufacturing</li></ul><h3>Industries</h3><ul><li>Food and Beverage Manufacturing</li><li>Food and Beverage Services</li><li>Manufacturing</li></ul></p>Create Your Resume First
