This position is part of the Connect 6ix project. Toronto’s new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility.
Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Building Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations, coordination, and management of building projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. Working closely with project managers, contractors, and various teams, the Building Coordinator ensures the seamless execution of construction and maintenance tasks while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction and maintenance projects.
- Liaise between contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely project execution.
- Track project milestones and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Organize and allocate materials, tools, and labor as per project needs.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement for timely supply replenishment.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to plans.
- Address and resolve on-site issues promptly in collaboration with the project team.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, costs, and timelines.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to management.
- Ensure all project documentation complies with company and regulatory standards.
- Enforce company and regulatory safety protocols across all project sites.
- Assist in resolving compliance issues with local building codes and transit regulations.
- Act as a point of contact for client inquiries and concerns regarding building projects.
- Coordinate meetings between project teams, contractors, and transit authorities.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in construction coordination or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and project management principles.
- Familiarity with transit-related construction regulations and safety standards is an asset.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Excel).
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
