Name of the position: Cloud Architect

Location : Vancouver, BC or Kitchener, ON (Hybrid)

Department/Project: Engineering


As Cloud Architect, you will work on one of the world’s largest social media platform which deals with a few petabytes of data coming to the system daily. You will contribute as part of R&D self-organized team working in a challenging, innovative environment for our client.

Investigate, create, and implement the solutions for many technical challenges using cutting edge technologies, including building/enhancing Big Data processing platform enabling work of software used by hundreds of millions of users.


  • Ensures that assigned area/areas are delivered within set deadlines and required quality objectives.
  • Create blueprints for hybrid cloud infrastructures centered around AWS (network, server, storage, security, and management software topologies), Run technical workshops and advise customers on architectural and strategic IT decisions.
  • Ensure that a quality solution is delivered in a timely manner, within budget, and to our client’s satisfaction.
  • Participate in architecture definition for Cloud Initiatives utilizing industry best practices and technologies.
  • Provide hands-on, prototypes, and implementations incorporating cloud engineering best practices, Develop technical content like white paper etc.
  • Design, implement and maintain pipelines that produce business critical data reliably and efficiently using cloud technology.
  • Create a well-informed cloud strategy and manage the adaption process.
  • Regularly evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software.
  • Develop and organize cloud systems.
  • Work closely with IT security to monitor the company’s cloud privacy.
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
  • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs.
  • Evaluating existing data systems.
  • Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
  • Understand the business drivers and analytical use-cases and translate these to data products.
  • Addresses area-level risks, provides and implements mitigation plan.
  • Reports about area readiness/quality, and raise red flags in crisis situations which are beyond Responsibilities.
  • Responsible for resolving crisis situations within responsibilities.
  • Suggests technical and functional improvements to add value to the product.

Must have:

  • University degree in Computer Related Sciences or similar
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience as cloud architect with AWS Cloud services (AWS).
  • Expert in Python coding language.
  • Experience with Automation provisioning using Terraform.
  • Vast Experience with Active Directory, IAM, Roles
  • Must be well familiar with SSH, HTTPS, Certs, Encryption protocols, and implementation.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing AWS solutions, including a strong understanding of AWS services, such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, VPN, Network Segmentation, Security Groups, ELB, DR Health Check programs, and ASG.
  • Demonstrated experience in solution design, architecture, and deployment of scalable and secure cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud infrastructure architecture.
  • Deep understanding of cloud component architecture: Microservices, Containers, IaaS, Storage, Security, Knowledge of routing/switching technologies.
  • Good knowledge of cloud computing delivery models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) and deployment models related to Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud service.
  • Ability to organize and document solutions.
  • A passion for streamlining systems and processes to make the difficult trivial.
  • Effective communication (oral & written), collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Result oriented approach.

Would be a plus : AWS Certified Solutions Architect -Certificate
