<p><p><b>10(B) Criminal Law Center – Hamilton & Niagara (Two openings)</b></p><p><b>About Us</b></p><p>At 10(B) Criminal Law Center, we are relentless in court and unshakable in defence. Our practice focuses on bail advocacy, early resolution strategies, and strong trial defence. With our rapid growth, we are seeking two Associate Lawyers — one based in Hamilton and one in Niagara — with the flexibility to move between jurisdictions as needed.</p><p><b>The Role</b></p><p>As an Associate Lawyer, you will:</p><ul><li>Represent clients in bail hearings, Crown Pre-Trials (CPTs), Judicial Pre-Trials (JPTs), and trials.</li><li>Conduct legal research, draft motions, facta, and prepare court materials.</li><li>Manage files with professionalism and empathy, working with minimal supervision and independence.</li><li>Build strong, ongoing client relationships, ensuring they feel supported and advocated for throughout the process.</li><li>Collaborate with staff, community organizations, and treatment providers to achieve the best outcomes.</li><li>Cover both Hamilton and Niagara jurisdictions interchangeably as required.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>1–3 years of post-call experience (criminal law experience preferred; motivated new calls considered).</li><li>Strong oral and written advocacy skills.</li><li>Ability to conduct CPTs independently is required.</li><li>Familiarity with Legal Aid Ontario processes is required.</li><li>Ability to speak a second language (Spanish and/or French) is a strong asset, given our diverse client base.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.</li><li>Excellent client-handling skills with the ability to build trust and advocate effectively.</li><li>Flexibility to appear in both Hamilton and Niagara courts.</li></ul><p><b>What We Offer</b></p><ul><li>Competitive compensation structure (salary or fee-sharing, to be discussed).</li><li>Early and significant courtroom exposure.</li><li>Mentorship in trial advocacy, Charter litigation, and strategic defence work.</li><li>A supportive, values-driven team environment.</li><li>The opportunity to represent a diverse community and make a real impact.</li></ul><p><b>How to Apply</b></p><p>Please email your resume and a brief cover letter to info@10bclaw.com with subject line: Associate Lawyer – Region – (Your Name)</p><p>Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
