Job Description – Associate Director, Application Business Development (Full Time)

Primary Purpose
The candidate in this role will be responsible for leading a national team of application specialists to create new business opportunities, develop and lead the application growth strategy, and deliver on growth targets as defined by the Business. As a focused ‘hunter’, the candidate will work in collaboration with the regional sales teams to execute on targets across all channels.
Key Accountabilities:
- Proactively identifies, investigates, evaluates, and develops new emerging growth/business applications and initiatives.
- Focuses on building relationships with key industry players and key accounts to spearhead growth opportunities and develop market segment strategy, account strategies, and investment to capture business opportunities.
- Collaborates closely with Linde’s R&D teams to stay abreast of new emerging market trends (both in Canada and globally), economic trends, and market conditions to identify new business opportunities.
- Develops and executes a sales management plan with application specialists, including target setting, KPI monitoring, and implementing a regular review cadence on performance metrics.
- Works closely with national sales teams to set regional strategy, manage and track leads, and develop accounts to ensure Linde captures all available business.
- Inspires collaboration and team selling between all Sales Teams, Application Specialists, Product Management, and other Linde assets to optimize business results.
- Develops and executes account plans for individual customers and prospects.
- Creates a culture of sales excellence and technical expertise within the team.
- Masters negotiation skills, demonstrating thorough understanding of complex terms and conditions.
- Works closely with marketing to develop new sales initiatives/campaigns to drive growth.
- Focuses on key performance indicators through management of various review functions.
- Drives compliance with safety, quality, and productivity goals in support of leadership objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, sales, marketing, or technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role and/or with field sales experience within the gas industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial CO2 applications across all industry segments.
- Fluent in English (French strongly preferred).
- Functional skills: Selling and negotiations, problem-solving, written and oral communication, product/process knowledge, continuous learning, time management, customer relationship management, planning and organizing, critical and innovative thinking.
- Strong financial, analytical, and business acumen required.
- Must be well organized and able to handle multiple priorities with time management proficiency.
- Advanced presentation and communication skills essential.
- Demonstrated track record of developing and executing customer/territory sales plans, deep customer insight, and knowledge of competitive landscape.
- Deep understanding of building profitable growth strategies.
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing abilities.
- Strong understanding of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet assigned deadlines.
