The Assistant Superintendent plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, supporting the Superintendent in managing the construction site, and ensuring all aspects of the project are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards. This position involves coordinating subcontractors, scheduling tasks, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.



The Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate small tools and light equipment (e.g., power washers, pumps, drills) as needed.
  • Perform basic site maintenance such as fence repairs, clearing debris, and assisting with water management.
  • Assist the crew with heavy lifting, setting up materials, and general labor.
  • Support the Superintendent with daily safety checks and site inspections.
  • Ensure work areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
  • Assist in monitoring safety compliance and report any concerns to the Superintendent.
  • Manage safety documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident reports.
  • Keep track of tools and materials to ensure the site remains stocked and organized.
  • Learn project scheduling, logistics, and field operations to assist with site coordination.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and labourers to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and according to plan.

Role Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in construction.
  • Procore experience an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Projects is an asset.
  • Technical Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Superior communication skills including both verbal and written correspondence.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and client groups.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Sound critical thinking skills and proven ability to exercise good judgement.
