You will be providing supervisory assistance by monitoring, managing and coordinating the work performed by employees in the section. What You Will Do ——————– Reporting to the Foreperson, the Assistant Foreperson – Structure Maintenance is responsible for providing supervisory assistance by directly managing and supervising hourly-rated maintenance crews in the repair, rehabilitation, maintenance, leak remediation, inspection, drainage and cleaning of the TTC’s subway tunnels, structures, bridges, elevated guide-ways, retaining walls and miscellaneous structures. This involves: * Completing daily job briefings and work plans; reviewing them in detail with hourly-rated employees to ensure that all aspects and hazards associated with the work are fully understood; * Assisting the Foreperson with administrative tasks such as completing the daily journal, timekeeping, record keeping, signing stock requisitions, purchase requisitions, vacation/bereavement requests, injury investigations, etc.; * Ensuring policies, safety and track maintenance projects are aligned with standards. Must ensure employees are appropriately trained on aspects of work; * Verifying the accuracy, quality, reliability, functionality, system requirements, and/or specifications are met in a given process, document, piece of equipment, system, or work method; * Completing tasks required to manage people (administrative duties) along with approving or authorizing requests which are up to standard and meet related policy expectations and compliance regulations; * Plan, adjust, and project work, schedules, costs, and systems as needed; * Provide assistance in the preparation, development, monitoring, or other needs for a given project or organizational unit; * Inspect equipment items and rebuild or improve functionality through forming, bending, welding, or other methods of fabrication; * Monitor and track information, data, records, and/or equipment, follow up, and update as required; Input or record data, and organize resources (e.g., estimates, employee-related documented, schedules, inventory), prepare documentation and/or reports, and distribute to the appropriate parties in accordance with established standards. What Skills Do You Bring? —————————– * Identify and minimize risk of Health and Safety issues * Understand and apply relevant laws and regulations * Demonstrate specialized expertise and knowledge in the assigned field * Use office technology, software and applications * Communicate in a variety of mediums What Qualifications Do You Bring? ————————————- * Your application will demonstrate practical and progressive experience in the techniques of structural concrete rehabilitation and repair work is preferred; * You have previous supervisory experience in structural rehabilitation or a related field would be an asset. * Knowledge of construction techniques including concrete/structural steel rehabilitation, repair of bridges and structures, etc.; * Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or trade license in a related discipline (construction related) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent; * Ability read and comprehend detailed construction blueprints, design drawings, sketches and technical specifications; * Ability to direct, motivate and co-ordinate the efforts of a unionized workforce to accomplish objectives; * Must possess a valid class “G” Province of Ontario Driver’s Licence; the successful candidate may be required to operate their personal automobile to inspect work sites/locations; * Will be required to attend and successfully complete various supervisory, safety and technical training programs related to the section and Structure Maintenance.
