Our client is an electric utility that operates the electricity distribution system for the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As of 2018, it serves approximately 772,000 customers and delivers approximately 19% of the electricity consumed in Ontario.


Your new role

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering the incumbent provides a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of the development and management of client’s solar generating assets.

This includes (but not limited to) review and prioritization of maintenance activities, asset performance reporting, data analysis and providing insights, customer and contractor management, budget proposals, and participating in short and long-term planning activities.

What you need to succeed

  • Participates in ongoing performance reporting and maintenance planning activities for the rooftop solar generation portfolio. Identifies, implements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the solar portfolio.
  • Provides timely collection of solar performance, analysis of performance issues, and actions to remedy issues.
  • Provides timely technical support and consultation, review and prioritization of deficiencies, and demonstrates effective project management and process efficiencies.
  • Supports asset condition assessment enhancement and analytics. Collaborates with stakeholders and team members to support data analytics related with short and long-term planning processes.

    Develops strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders to support execution of maintenance requirements including the customers and contractors.
  • Performs trend analyses of equipment data and determines appropriate actions to improve and optimize maintenance programs.
  • Project manages contractors to complete on-site construction activities related to repair/refurbishment of solar assets.
  • Undertakes and/or participates in special investigation and studies, and prepares reports with recommendations.
  • Able to work with large datasets effectively and prepares data analyses to drive engineering decisions efficiently.
  • Supports the preparation of material and/or technical specifications and standards; reviews proposals from suppliers, contractors and consultants for technical merit and compliance; investigates and evaluates the application of new technologies.
  • Participates in implementing corporate goals and objectives.
  • May be called upon to act as a team or project leader

What you will get in return

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Engineering experience in Distribution Utilities preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge of project management, maintenance & reliability analysis and customer relations is an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in PV Solar generators and business case modelling.
  • Experience in Data Management and analysis, with applied experience in the use of Alteryx and Tableau.
  • Fluent in the application of information technology, such as MS Office suites, CAD, SAP, GEAR, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software.
