<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Job Posting – Data Technician Wood Buffalo Environmental Association The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA) monitors the environment of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in north-eastern Alberta. Our environmental monitoring work is the most integrated and intensive focus on air and terrestrial monitoring in any one area, anywhere in Canada. The WBEA is committed to reporting accurate and timely high-quality data from our Ambient Air Monitoring (AAM), Deposition (DEP), and Community Odour Monitoring (OMP) Programs to ensure regional stakeholders have the information they need to make informed environmental decisions. The Role The WBEA is currently seeking a full-time Ambient Air Monitoring (AAM) Field Technician. The AAM Field Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining air quality monitoring stations within the Wood Buffalo Environmental Association’s (WBEA) Ambient Air Monitoring (AAM) Network. This role ensures that analyzers and meteorological sensors are calibrated, maintained, and producing high-quality data in accordance with WBEA’s Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), the Alberta Air Monitoring Directive (AMD), and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Position Responsibilities Reporting to the AAM Lead, you will: * Perform daily system checks to verify proper analyzer and sensor operation and prioritize field work based on performance data. * Conduct monthly calibrations and routine maintenance on analyzers and support systems (e.g., manifold cleaning, PM head cleaning, filter changes, gas cylinder replacements). * Troubleshoot analyzer and data-acquisition issues in the field and complete repairs as able; escalate complex issues to senior technicians or Lead. * Maintain accurate documentation, including calibration logs, and station visit records. * Perform meteorological sensor inspections, audits, and repairs as assigned. * Maintain site compounds, including vegetation control, snow removal, and general upkeep. * Complete required Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and participate actively in the WBEA Safety Program. Qualifications * Post secondary education in environmental science, chemistry, atmospheric science, or related technical field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. * Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. * Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot analytical or electronic systems. * Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing schedules and extended work periods. * Attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality while handling sensitive or regulatory information. * Physically capable of performing field duties, including the ability to work independently in remote and adverse environmental conditions. * A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week at eight (8) hours per day from Monday to Friday. Overtime (up to 12 hours per day) may be required periodically, depending on operational needs.
