ACCOUNTANT (Part-Time)

Wigwamen Incorporated is seeking applicants to fill a permanent “Part-Time Accountant” position.

The successful candidate will work 2 days (14 hours) a week at head office, 23 Lesmill Rd, and will report directly to the Financial Controller.

Responsibilities


·        Prepare bank reconciliations including posting journal entries and following up on outstanding cheques

·        Prepare and post journal entries for monthly allocations of maintenance salariesbenefits

·        Reconcile capital construction project costs with consultant’s working papers

·        Assist in preparing journal entries for month-end, year-end reporting


·        Assist in preparing monthly billings to funders

·        Cash deposit postings

·        Prepare T4A

·        Prepare rent rolls for financial institutions


·        Assist in preparing Annual Capital Expenditures Report for the City of Toronto

·        Calculate interest income for last month deposit

·        Data entry for the Annual Occupancy Report – City of Ottawa

·        Prepare statistical information for the Annual Information Return


·        Accounts Payable backup

·        Issue donation tax receipts

·        Copy invoices and file bank statements

·        Other duties as assigned



Qualifications

·        4-5 years’ experience in a general accounting role

·        University degree or College Diploma in accounting


·        Experience and proficiency in Excel

Required Skills/Abilities:

·        Strong work ethic, very organized, self-motivated


·        Strong reconciliation and analytical skills

·        Ability to work under pressure independently, as well as in a team environment

·        Experience with working for non-profits

·        Working knowledge of NewViews
