Reports To: Warehouse Manager
Shift: Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm, flexible for overtime as needed
Rate: $23.00 per hour with regular increases based on performance
Summary
The Dry Goods Shipper Receiver is responsible for assisting with the accurate and seamless reception, recording and processing of incoming shipments, storage and retrieval of dry storage raw materials. Other responsibilities will include the inspection of incoming shipments to verify contents and quality to ensure that inventory transactions are completed and documented. The Dry Goods Shipper Receiver must understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of incoming raw materials to complete production orders. Inventory management and communication skills are essential. According to business requirements, will also cover Shipper Receiver duties in the Cold Storage Warehouse, such as picking orders for shipment or production staging, unloading fresh and frozen raw materials into the cooler or freezer, loading outbound carriers with finished goods, performing and reconciling cycle counts.

Dry Goods Job Duties:
- Use forklift to offload dry goods and store in appropriate spot using a walkie
- Bring packaging materials from dry storage to the production lines, using cart, walkie or by hand
- Return unused materials to appropriate shelves in dry storage
- Ensure the floor space is clear of all debris (cardboard, empty pallets, garbage etc.)
- Track and rotate inventory according to FIFO (first in first out) principles
- Conduct bi-monthly inventory counts and weekly gas cylinder counts
- Prepare and submit all receiving paperwork to Plant Coordinator and Quality Assurance department for invoice payments
- Notify Production and Supply Chain Coordinator on stock levels and stock outage
- Participate in inventory planning with Supply Chain Coordinator to ensure steady flow of raw materials inventory
- Stock label cabinet and corrugate shelf in the beef processing room
- Clean up dry storage area and prepare and stage dry goods required for morning shift
- Retrieve inventory from storage trailers as needed
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Dry Storage Flow / Continuous improvement Projects:
- Reorganize – Work with Supply Chain Coordinator to establish, label and maintain optimal SKU locations to optimize flow
- Return process – Develop SKU return location for returning packaging materials to maximize space utilization and ease of access
- Cross train – Learn Warehouse Shipper Receiver functions and perform as required
- Obsolete items – Work with Production team and Supply Chain Coordinator to identify obsolete items in the dry storage area. Record and notify Finance and dispose of items once approval is received.
Warehouse Shipper Receiver Duties:
- Prepare shipping and receiving dock to accept incoming / outgoing product
- Pick orders and prepare for shipping, including: stacking, wrapping, and crating products
- Match product with purchase orders / shipping orders
- Verify received product expiration codes
- Inspect product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating
- Operate a Forklift or Electric Pallet Jack in a safe manner to move product
- Maintain a safe work environment
- May lift cases of product according to documented procedures
- Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking
- Adhere to daily shipment schedule and work procedures / standards
- Oversee the safe, secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries and shipments
- Sort and distribute incoming shipments to designated warehouse locations
- Perform quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items prior to signing off
- Report discrepancies to immediate supervisor
- Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete
- Problem solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveries
- Perform monthly inventory counts
- Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Forklift certification required [Crown Stand Up Forklift and Toyota Sit Down Forklift]
- Walkie experience an asset, will be certified on site
- Experience in Shipping and Receiving role in the consumer packaged goods or cold storage industry
- Able to communicate both verbally and in writing, fluency in English
- Basic mathematical skills to count, record and compute accurately
- Working knowledge of safe lifting methods
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
- Exposure to vibration from forklift driving
- Overtime as required
- Lifting or moving up to 23 kgs may be required
- Work is performed in a combination of environments, including production floor (-1 to +4 degrees C) and freezers (-18 degrees C)
- This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes and oils
- Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment
